Impactful, Curated, Dynamic
When Perkins&Will relaunched its website, it shifted from an encyclopedic, flat inventory of work to a dynamic, highly curated portfolio. As Digital Content Strategist at Perkins&Will, I worked directly with our in-house design team and external developers to craft an experiential site that showcased client’s stories in bold new ways. We created a flexible, module-based design that allowed for an array of customization, fulfilling the diverse needs of a global, multi-studio architecture firm.
— The homepage starts with a full-screen image of a project. Every time a visitor arrives on the site, they are greeted with a different project. Below the “fold” there are stories, projects, and research, strategically selected for the visitors to discover.
— The “Work” landing page features the firm’s top 300 projects, sorted by project type. In the grid view, the order of projects can be completely curated in the CMS, allowing the best work to be visible front and center. The map view allows visitors to get a full scope of the global portfolio.
— Project pages mirror the homepage layout, with a large featured image followed by the project story. Project pages have flexible modules that allow for slideshows, videos, pull quotes, fun facts, and text color blocks, that way every project story layout is bespoke.
— Two years after the relaunch of perkinswill.com, the team created “Insights,” a section of the site dedicated to storytelling. Insights has an editorial format that features experiential storytelling in the form of quizzes, animated infographics, video, and illustrations.
